Guru Nanak Darbar, known as Gravesend Gurdwara, opened in 2010 and is one of the largest and most beautiful Gurdwaras outside India. It was built in sandstone-coloured stone with five domes in the style of the Gurdwaras of Punjab, and through its carved marble gateway it is easy to forget you are in Kent. Inside, wooden staircases and marble landings rise to a painted dome with a great chandelier and lines of Gurbani. There are three darbars and two langar halls, and paintings of Sikh history line the walls. Coaches of sangat come from all over Britain.
Diwan and langar times can change, so please check with the Gurdwara before you travel. Spotted something out of date? Write to [email protected].
