Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Caldmore began in 1962, when local Sikhs rented the British Lion Club as a Gurdwara. They bought the building later that decade, built a new Gurdwara in 1971 and the present one in 2007. Its kitchen is home base for the Midland Langar Seva Society, one of the UK’s largest community kitchens. Walsall’s Sikhs held the first large western Gurmat camp in the 1980s, and Caldmore keeps the tradition alive with Gurmat, Punjabi and computer classes. It is also a key stop on the Walsall Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan.
Diwan and langar times can change, so please check with the Gurdwara before you travel. Spotted something out of date? Write to [email protected].
