How Sikhs arrived
Sikhs arrived on the US west coast in the early 1900s. The Stockton Gurdwara in California, founded in 1912, was the first Gurdwara in the United States.
In 1956 Dalip Singh Saund became the first Asian American, and the first Sikh, elected to the US Congress.
