Guru Nanak Darbar Sahib in Kobe is Japan’s oldest Gurdwara. Sikh traders settled in Kobe after the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, and their prayer room in a family home grew into a full Gurdwara by the 1950s and 1960s. For many years it was the only Gurdwara in Japan, and it still stands in a quiet residential street of Chuo ward.
Diwan and langar times can change, so please check with the Gurdwara before you travel. Spotted something out of date? Write to [email protected].
