The Riverland Sikh Society’s Gurdwara at Glossop was built by local families, who bought two shops for $36,000, took them down and put up a new building. In 1980 only 10 to 12 Sikh families lived in the Riverland, mostly as seasonal farm workers; today there are around 200 to 250 families, many with their own farms.
